Citizens Energy employees spent the day working at Eagle Creek Park instead of the office.
Roughly 170 employees took part in the "Sharing the Dream" day of service. They refurbished Eagle Creek Park's "hide-a-way" retreat. Volunteers upgraded the lighting, updated the kitchen and gave everything a fresh coat of paint.
IndyParks will rent out the renovated space for weddings and other social activities.
"I believe that our employees get a sense of pride for the company that they work for and just giving back to the community that we serve is really important to all of us," said Jennifer Mentink.
This is the fourth year Citizens Energy has partnered with IndyParks for a day of service honoring doctor Martin Luther King, Junior.
