Colts hope to sell season tickets to fans at Lucas Oil Stadium Open House

Indianapolis Colts fans will have a rare chance to check out Andrew Luck practicing inside Lucas Oil Stadium this week, and the team hopes the fans check out some season tickets in the meantime.

The Colts are offering free admission, free parking and half price concessions during a special minicamp inside the stadium on Wednesday. The event will also feature a tour of the field and the Fun Zone for children.

"Something tells me these guys will make their way down there," said Bill Stewart, referring to his three young boys who are big Colts fans.

The event, which runs from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., will also give the team a chance to promote season tickets, which are available for the first time in years. 

"Selfishly speaking, I'm excited because we have a chance to get season tickets now,” said Stewart.

That's exactly why the team is opening the doors. After last year's 2-14 record and the loss of Peyton Manning, many fans decided not to renew their tickets and the season ticket waiting list dried up. In all, the team was left to sell roughly 3,000 open seats.

"It's been over 10 years since we've had a bunch of season tickets available," said Colts Sr. Director of Marketing Chuck O’Hara.

The Colts are making it pretty easy to check out all the available season tickets. Each unsold seat will have a colored sticker. Fans can check out the view and pick up the sticker in order to buy that specific seat immediately.

"We've got tickets all over but the majority are up top," said O’Hara.

Even though many seats are up high, team officials said it is a chance to get in on the ground floor for a new era, led by rookie quarterback Andrew Luck. The team practice will run from 2 to 4:15 p.m.

"Luck is going to be a huge draw,” said O’Hara. “I wasn't here when Peyton Manning first came but it was wild."

Stewart said he's in the market for tickets and likes the idea.

"I think it's great, you know, too often you can't get a good shot of where the seats are and where the line of sight is from the internet or any of the ticketing sites, so I think it's fantastic," said Stewart.

According to team officials, an added push to sell the remaining season tickets has proven effective, pushing the number of remaining tickets below the 3,000 mark. The Colts have said they are not concerned about the potential of local blackouts due to unsold seats.
