A former daycare owner pleaded guilty Monday to one count of battery for burning a little boy.
Two years ago, Irene Martin of Plainfield was arrested after a 2-year-old boy suffered serious burns to his back, groin, buttocks and upper legs.
She told police she put him in a sink to wash off after an accident in the bathroom and when she checked on him, she noticed steam coming from the sink and the burns on his body.
In exchange for pleading guilty, two other charges, neglect of dependent and battery, were dismissed.
