Frankfort soldier succumbs to injuries suffered in Afghanistan

A Central Indiana soldier wounded in the Middle East nearly a year ago died Wednesday.

Sgt. Jamie Jarboe, of Frankfort, passed away in the early morning hours.  

Jarboe was shot by an enemy sniper in an Afghanistan village in early April 2011, paralyzing him from the chest down. He was on his third tour of duty.

His passing was announced on the Facebook page Prayers for Sergeant Jamie Jarboe. Thousands of people have posted their condolences on the page.  

Jarboe was stationed at Fort Riley. He will be laid to rest in Topeka, Kansas, on March 31.

A memorial will be held in Frankfort at an undetermined date.
