A groundbreaking marked the beginning of a big project at Bishop Chatard High School Tuesday.

The student body, faculty members and donors were on hand for the ground breaking on the north side school's athletic field. It signaled the start of a $4.5 million renovation project at the school.

Once the project is completed, the school will have a new baseball diamond, football field and other upgrades around the school.

"For our kids, again to have our fist soccer games, lacrosse games played here, track meets, first time in 25 years, that's a pretty big deal," said Bill Sahm, President of Bishop Chatard High School.

The renovation is possible thanks to the Golden Opportunities Capital Campaign.

Money from the project is also going toward technology upgrades like wireless internet and e-textbooks.
