IFD battles suspicious northwest side fires

When firefighters arrived, they could see heavy fire coming from the front porch.

Firefighters with the Indianapolis Fire Department were called to multiple fires on the near northwest side Wednesday morning.

IFD was dispatched to the first fire, located in the 3400 block of Clifton Street, at 3:42 a.m.
Minutes later, firefighters were notified of a house fire just down the street in the 1100 block of 36th Street.

When firefighters arrived, they could see heavy fire coming from the front porch.

According to IFD spokesperson Rita Burris, two people were inside the double residence at the time of the fire. Both escaped safely and Victims Assistance was called to the scene for assistance. 

Burris said that fire resulted in approximately $150,000 in damage.

Before firefighters could wrap up that fire, more companies were dispatched to the 1000 block of 35th Street.

About $45,000 in damage was done to a vacant home.

Fire investigators are currently looking into each fire.
