A prisoner housed at the Edinburgh Correctional Facility in Edinburgh, Ind. was taken back into custody Wednesday after escaping Tuesday evening, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Brian Poland, 32, who was serving a two-year sentence for theft and receiving stolen property in Marion County, was captured at approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.  The Indiana Department of Corrections records indicate Poland also has a decade-long record of robbery and burglary convictions.

Law enforcement urged residents to be on alert after Poland escaped.

Police said Poland was caught just east of Nineveh Road and 700 South.  Law enforcement received a call around 9:23, indicating someone wearing a prison uniform was near their home.

The homeowner chased the escapee, and when police arrived, they chased him through a creek before he was caught.
