The remains of a runaway dog fatally shot by police have tested negative for rabies.
Last week, Joseph Stapleton was walking his dog when two other dogs attacked, injuring him and killing his Yorkshire Terrier.
Police ended up shooting one of the runaway dogs to death. That dog's tissue has since tested negative for rabies.
The second dog is still in quarantine. Police said it is not showing any signs of rabies.
The runaway dog's owner wants it adopted out to a new family but police want to euthanize it. Officials will determine the dog’s fate Monday.
