Visitation Thursday for IU student who died after fall from balcony

Friends and family will gather Thursday night to say saying goodbye to an Indiana University student who fell to her death last week.

Linden Whitt, 20, died last Friday from neck injuries sustained after falling eight feet off a backyard porch at her apartment near the Bloomington campus.

The accident occurred at the University Village apartments.  Witnesses said Whitt and 20-year-old Joseph Lao may have lost their balance before going over the railing. 

Lao was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, but he was not seriously injured.
    
Visitation for Whitt will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bubb Funeral Chapel in her hometown of Mishawaka, Ind. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday beginning at 12 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  A private burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
