Investigation underway into report of body found (July 12, 2012)

A death investigation is underway after a man’s body was found Thursday afternoon in Big Eagle Creek on the city's west side.

An anonymous caller told dispatchers that there was a body floating underneath the bridge at McCarty and Tip Streets. Police and fire crews responded to the scene, finding the body of an adult male near the creek bed.

Detectives didn’t find any obvious signs of injury on the victim’s body.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office is attempting to confirm the victim’s identity. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning.
