Stamp Out Hunger campaign to be held May 12

The United States Postal Service's annual campaign to end hunger will be held May 12.

The United States Postal Service's annual campaign to end hunger will be held May 12.

The USPS along with its carriers will begin collecting food donations to feed America's hungry as part of the Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

“The Postal Service is pleased to continue supporting the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) as we enter our 20th year together to help Stamp Out Hunger in America,” said Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe. “I am confident the 2012 campaign will be our best ever because the need continues to grow.”

Non-perishable food left at mailboxes will be delivered to food banks and other food relief organizations.

Examples of non-perishable items include:
  • Canned soup
  • Canned meats and fish
  • Canned vegetables, fruits and juices
  • Boxed goods (such as cereal)
  • Pasta and rice
